Alert system · Visible to members only

Guest alerts, Berlin.

A guest flooded your bathroom last night. You wonder: has this person caused trouble elsewhere? Someone three streets away would know – you just did not. That is exactly the gap this alert network closes.

Not a member but had an incident?
You can send an alert to the member hostels without a membership. We need your name, your hostel and a contact address – we do not accept anonymous reports.

Report an incident
A full house in the evening – the everyday reality the reports come from

How it works

Reporting means sending.

There is no review desk in between. Whoever reports posts straight to everyone – because an alert that arrives the next day is often too late.

  1. Report A member enters the incident in the protected area: date, category, what happened, action taken, plus up to six photos. Hostels outside the group report via the public form – giving name, hostel and contact details, and the report is marked as external.
  2. Straight to everyone The report appears in the members area immediately and goes by email to everyone who has notifications switched on. No waiting.
  3. Correctable Whoever reported can withdraw at any time. The speaker removes a report if a data subject objects or if it is not in order.
  4. Delete Nach 12 Monaten ab of the incident date every report is anonymised and removed automatically – without anyone having to remember.

Why no review step?

Because the network is only useful if it is faster than the guest. Someone with a problem at three in the morning should not have to wait for approval. The price: responsibility for every report lies with the person who posts it – name and hostel visible to everyone else. In a closed group that works better than a gatekeeper.

Contents

What gets reported.

Seven categories, no more needed. Whoever reports picks one and describes what actually happened.

  • Sachbeschädigung
  • Diebstahl
  • Gewalt / Bedrohung
  • Zahlungsbetrug
  • Hausfriedensbruch
  • Auffälliges Buchungsmuster
  • Sonstiges

What explicitly does not belong here

  • Speculation without a concrete incident
  • Origin, religion, health data
  • Judgements about people instead of descriptions of facts
  • Anything that did not happen in your own hostel

The network exists to protect staff, guests and property – not to shut people out of accommodation. Every hostel decides for itself what to do with a piece of information.

Legal

Data protection, briefly and honestly.

A guest alert processes personal data. That is why there are firm rules – and a deletion that happens by itself.

  • Accessverified members only
  • Attributionevery report carries a name
  • Logevery view
  • Retention12months, automatically
  • On objectionremoved immediately

Data subjects may request access, rectification and erasure under Articles 15 to 17 GDPR at any time.

Taking part costs nothing.

The network only works if enough hostels take part. Those who report also receive – and the other way round.
